Our Graduate Profile reflects the hopes and aspirations our community has for every learner who walks through the gates of Cobden School. It describes the knowledge, skills, values, and personal qualities we want our tamariki to develop by the time they leave us, providing a clear vision for learning from Year 1 through to Year 8.

One of the things that makes our Graduate Profile special is that it has been shaped by our community. As part of our commitment to providing the best possible education for our tamariki, we regularly ask whānau, students, and staff what matters most in learning—and every time, you deliver thoughtful ideas and valuable feedback. Over the years, those conversations have helped us refine a Graduate Profile that genuinely reflects our shared values and aspirations.
Together with our vision and values, the Graduate Profile guides everything we do, ensuring every learner leaves Cobden School as a confident, capable young person who is connected to their community, proud of who they are, and ready to embrace the opportunities ahead.
In 2026, we revised our mathematics curriculum to align with the refreshed New Zealand Curriculum and national priorities, ensuring students develop strong number knowledge, mathematical thinking, problem-solving skills, and confidence through explicit, evidence-informed teaching. Our mathematics programme provides a clear, consistent progression of learning while using rich, engaging contexts that help every learner build understanding, apply their knowledge, and experience success.

We have also revised our English curriculum to align with the refreshed New Zealand Curriculum and national priorities, strengthening the teaching of structured literacy alongside rich opportunities for speaking, listening, reading, viewing, writing, and creating. Our English programme provides a clear progression of learning, using explicit, evidence-informed teaching to build strong literacy foundations while fostering confident communicators, critical thinkers, and lifelong readers and writers.
